I still find that the rate of corked Spanish wines is very low, about 2-3%. It does help that many come in Screwcap now too. I do tend to have bad luck with French wine however, 3 out 5 of the last french wines I’ve opened have been riddled with tca…

Now it’s not the kind of wine that requires a huge note, but it’s a blend of Garnacha tinta, Parraleta, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon that gets a short spell in some new American oak.

Note of plum and dark cherry on the nose, a slight coconut and vanilla note. An overall impression of earthy warmth and undergrowth. Kind of chunky in the mouth, firm tannins with good acid, a fun wine thats enjoyable with or without food. The palate is much the same as the nose. Not too serious, however it holds my interest enough to want a second glass. 88 Pts.

To be honest, I was a bit dubious about this one. A blend of late harvested Macabeo with some Chardonnay & Gewurztraminer doesn't usually get my juices flowing, and while this isn't going to spur on a wild planting spree of Macabeo around the world, its a good drink. As a side note, this wine usesNormacork to seal the bottle. This is the only synthetic cork that I've seen so far that works well and looks somewhat normal.
The nose is rich and full of lemon, melon and pear with freshly toasted spices. It has an odd sweet and sour thing going on in the mouth, acid cutting through oily texture. I’m a real sucker for these wines were texture and mouthfeel are emphasised, and this provides plenty to enjoy. More tart lemon with sweet melon in the mouth, a bit of herby gear and something a bit minerally to the acid. I’m sure plenty of people will hate this, it is a bit odd, but I quite like. An excellent match to some pan fried chili chicken. 87 Pts.

Another quick note. A rose made from 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet. Interestingly, 10% of the wine gets to ferment in wood and a bit of lees action.
Notes of raspberry and strawberry dominate the nose, there is a little peach in there as well. Fresh and fairly straight forward in the mouth, good acidity and the slightest shot of tannins on the finish. Raspberry and cherry come out on the palate, a bit of spice and earth for complexity. Long finish with tangy fruit and a touch of minerals. Nice stuff. 88 Pts.

The nose kicks things off with a grassy/tree sap note, then into some lighter cherries and blueberries. In the mouth it’s rounded and medium boddied, some firm acid keeps things edgy enough to be interesting. Hints of choclate, kind of a cranberry note, with dark cherry and spice. Different, in a good way, and a tasty drink. 88 Pts.
