I had the same issue with 2.3, but I’ve learnt from experience. I have a straight wordpress install and have put all my mods into plugins or ditched them…
The 2.5.1 upgrade went fine, and the admin interface and image handling are much better. I should have a new theme in a couple of weeks too, I’ve been running this temporary one for almost a year now!
