The Spanish tend to favour very dry and obviously acidic sparkling wines, the classic example of this is the Brut Nature wines that are made with out the addition of sugar. While that is a huge generalisation, I find it to be fairly true when travelling around in Spain. Now this is a brut, which can have zero to fifteen grams of sugar, I’d say this is at the very low end of that scale. A blend of Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada and aged on lees for 24 months, this shows good lees characters but retains the freshness and vibrancy of the fruit.
The nose is clean and fresh with lemon, slight melon and lime with yeasty, bready notes. A moderate rate of bubble mixed with fine acid give the wine a firm mouthfeel and a tight, integrated palate. More lemons and limes on the palate with some minerally elements and a generous finish. If you like your sparkling wine big and broad, give this a miss, otherwise this is good drinking. 90 Pts.
