Gonzalez Byass ‘Nectar’ PX

Gonzalez Byass 'Nectar' PX

Winter is the perfect time to get stuck into some desserts, and of course you’ll need something to drink with it. PX and chocolate pudding is a classic match, but it also goes excellently with a cheese plate. If I have any left over in summer, I put some in a banana smoothie. It’s not exactly health food, but it tastes great.

A bucket full of squashed raisins on the nose, with some smoke and wood notes, some cinnamon and nutmeg for added complexity. It has the texture of light oil in the mouth, which I quite like, the finish is long and lingering. This one is fairly sweet, as you would expect, with the flavour of a liquid version of rum and raisin ice cream. Not too cloying and there is a slight note of mint on the finish. Mucho yummy. 90 Pts.

  1. Shaggy,

What an outrageous idea! Good thing I have some bananas and an open bottle of PX at home:)

  2. I ran out of honey, so I gave some PX a go and it works well I think. Let me know how you go if you whip one up.
